Notes
Suzaku is the son of Japan's last Prime Minister and a survivor of the conquest. He enlists as an Honorary Britannian, believing that changing the system from within is the only way to prevent more pointless deaths.
His friendship with Lelouch frames the series' central conflict: both want a freer Japan, but Suzaku trusts institutions and Lelouch trusts leverage. As the Lancelot's pilot, Suzaku becomes the empire's most visible Japanese soldier and the Black Knights' most dangerous opponent.
